Countryside Code.

Although a private burial ground we are still a working farm, so may we politely ask that when visiting our site you remember to close the gates behind you. This ensures no farm animals are able to enter the grounds and cause unwanted damage and disruption to your loved one's graves or the site surrounding.

2024/5 Trees Planted.

The saplings planted on graves this year are a mixture of fruit and nut producing trees including Wild apple, Spindleberry, Sweet Chestnut, Rowan, silver birch and the rare Service tree in time these will mature and it will become evident which variety is upon each grave.

We have planted a victoria plum, braeburn apple, medlar, bramley apple,2 different plum varieties, mulberry and a pear tree with three vareties on one stem around the parking area, we hope in future visitors will be able to enjoy some of the fruit these trees produce.

The next generation of the family is expanding their wood business from supplying logs and woodland management for a local estate and this year we have planted over 200 native tree saplings, including some rare british trees-the service tree and Black poplar approx 50 of each, around crossways farm itself, we are hoping to clear seasoning timber from the car parking area this winter and plant a selection of edible hedging plants and trees.

His carpentry skills are being used to create bespoke garden furniture and english oak interior furniture from locally grown sustainably managed timber, photos to follow, see douglas fir benches, and table bench set in burial ground.

Going Forward

We have added an additional area to the burial ground, after approval by local authority, at the western end to provide for future use, this increases our capacity to approx 900+ burials with further land available if required, the area is currently grazed by sheep and a new hedge has been planted which includes service and cob nut trees, a large tree trunk in this area has become home to a swarm of bees!
